Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra

The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra has been a world-class orchestra for more than 125 years. The orchestra received the ‘Royal’ appellation on the occasion of its one hundredth anniversary in 1988. Every year, it performs around eighty concerts in Amsterdam's Concertgebouw and another forty on the most prestigious stages around the world.

In addition to its chief conductor, the orchestra is made up of some 120 musicians from more than twenty countries. Despite its size, the orchestra functions like a chamber orchestra, with its members listening closely to and playing sensitively with one another. This requires them to display individual musicianship of the highest calibre and to place immense trust in one another. The musicians are allowed to shine but they share responsibility for the collective. They also share the aim of delivering a performance that meets the very highest musical standards, an ambition that goes far beyond simply playing the notes perfectly. That is entirely in line with what PwC stands for: we support our employees and clients in developing their talents so that they can play to their strengths and take advantage of the opportunities that come their way.
