Considering privacy on the brink of full transparency

Following our previous publications ‘Finding a balance between transparency and privacy’ and ‘How does privacy fit into a transparent world?’, this update examines the latest developments surrounding the UBO register. The report contains the results of our follow-up study on the impact of the UBO register on wealthy families and family businesses and how sixteen European countries expect to implement the regulations. In all these countries, family businesses are the backbone of the national economy. With this third publication on the UBO register, we aim to contribute to a thorough, in-depth debate on the tension between transparency and privacy.
