Authorisation Application

Entering the Dutch financial market or opening a branch to expand the business can be quite troublesome and can take some time. We know what matters when preparing the licence procedure and we support you in the thorough documentation as well as the negotiations with the Dutch legislators DNB (Dutch Central Bank) and the AFM (The Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets). We cooperate with the specialists of PwC to develop consistent business models that meet the various challenges of licensing procedures. Our team has (interdisciplinary) competencies regarding licences, existing authorisations or expertise on new financial products.

How can we help you?

Our team has experience with authorisation of capital market intermediaries and financial market infrastructures and the Dutch legislators DNB and AFM. Furthermore, we have experience with obtaining authorisations of financial market intermediaries (such as e-money institutions, payment systems, CCPs, settlement systems). We accomplish this by joining forces with our (international) colleagues specialised in tax, advisory and assurance. With our worldwide network, we can offer our services at a local level. These include the following:

  • Advice on how to thoroughly prepare and document the licensing procedure through the DNB and AFM.
  • Support in establishing EU branches in the Netherlands and abroad.
  • Assisting in acquiring shares in domestic banks.
  • Provide guidance during the due diligence process, contract negotiations and ownership control procedures before supervisory authorities should the business seek to acquire an already existing institution.
