Geopolitics is constantly evolving. Sanctions, cyber threats, and market volatility directly affect organisations. But how do you know where your organisation is vulnerable? And more importantly: how do you translate that into action?
Our Geopolitical Impact Assessment (GIA) provides a clear picture of your exposure to geopolitical risks. This unique, data-driven approach helps you act decisively, so you can navigate this dynamic world with confidence.
GIA is an AI-powered analysis tool that systematically assesses your organisation across ten geopolitical domains. Using over 150 indicators, we map your risks and vulnerabilities. The tool combines public data, relevant internal information, and stakeholder interviews to create a complete and reliable profile of your geopolitical exposure.
The ten geopolitical domains:
Legislation and regulation
Sanctions
Export restrictions and trade tariffs
Market volatility
Consumers outside the EU
Employees and operations abroad
Foreign employees in the Netherlands
Foreign investments and physical assets
Supply chains through unstable countries
Cyber, technology, and cloud
'Geopolitics is no longer an abstract concept – it's embedded in the supply chain, pricing and strategic choices. The question is not whether it will affect your organisation, but when and how hard.'
Hala Naoum Néhmé,geopolitics expertThe GIA consists of five steps:
Based on public sources (e.g. annual reports and sector data), we create an initial profile of your organisation.
We enrich the profile with macrotrends, regulator expectations, and sector-specific risks.
We apply over 150 indicators to your organisation. Questions include: “Does the organisation have crisis plans for staff in risk areas?’ or ‘Is there dependency on US cloud providers?’
Each indicator receives a score based on underlying sources. If no source is available, no score is given – ensuring transparency and traceability.
Outcomes are presented in a visual dashboard with risk and maturity scores, plus concrete recommendations per domain.
The strength of the Geopolitical Impact Assessment lies in combining AI analysis based on structured indicators with complete transparency, where every score can be traced back to its source. We have developed the methodology in collaboration with the Clingendael Institute and it aligns with the expectations of organisations such as the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) and the European Banking Authority.
Reliable: Only scores with source data are included – no assumptions, no contamination.
Comparable: Standardisation enables peer reviews and benchmarking.
Actionable: Risks and recommendations are directly linked to PwC services and experts.
Board-relevant: Helps guide decisions on risk acceptance, investments, and strategy.
The strength of the GIA lies in its combination of:
Structured AI analysis
Transparent scoring
Maturity assessment
Strategic interpretation of results
Developed in collaboration with the Clingendael Institute, the methodology aligns with expectations from De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) and the European Banking Authority (EBA)
