By rethinking where employees work and making greater use of digital technologies, companies can increase their productivity by up to 25 per cent. A global technology company has demonstrated that that is actually possible.

Setting up technology hubs

The company set up technology hubs in a number of countries, where it could attract talented people with the required technical skills. Its bricks-and-mortar offices are located in those major hubs, but employees can work anywhere.

Investment in training

To support this way of working, the company invested in training and technologies that facilitate collaboration. It applied this model to shape its future recruitment strategy, in-service training programmes, and carbon footprint across all the various positions. This resulted in lower staff costs and retention of crucial talent, without needing to significantly downsize the overall workforce.
