Invest International is an international investor that supports Dutch companies and partner governments with financing solutions in foreign markets. The goal of Invest International: sustainable economic growth, supporting transitions in focus sectors, and contributing to the earning capacity of the Netherlands. Shareholders are the Ministry of Finance and FMO, the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank. During its establishment as a greenfield in 2021, Invest International did not yet have its own IT infrastructure.

Urgency was required

At its inception, Invest International immediately took over several existing funding schemes from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and FMO. It was agreed that Invest International could use the IT systems of RVO and FMO for up to a year after the transition. After that, all files had to be migrated to a new system of Invest International itself. Therefore, the implementation of this system was urgent. However, with a large number of product/market combinations and approximately 2 billion euros in public funds, speed should not come at the expense of quality and future-proofing.

IT-agnostic

Invest International issued a tender for the selection of an IT partner, in which PwC was selected. Decisive was that we know the public finance and banking sector inside out. In addition, we have all disciplines in-house for an integrated end-2-end solution, including specialists in the areas of technology, process, legal, change, cybersecurity and more. So we were able to get started without any workarounds. Moreover, we are “IT agnostic,” meaning PwC is not tied to any particular technology or vendor. We have alliances with more than 30 platform providers, including the major ones such as SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Microsoft and Google. For Invest International, we chose two SaaS solutions that allowed us to realize the system within the relatively short time-to-market. 

Multidisciplinary team

With a multidisciplinary team, we delivered and implemented the complete IT infrastructure within the requested time frame of one year, and all data was migrated. The systems for mid- and back-office, accounting, and banking were integrated, and where necessary, existing code was configured, and new code was added. Since then, PwC has managed the entire system, including updates, security, changes, and further development. Additionally, we provide a first-line service desk and incident follow-up.
