With summer behind us, many countries are slowly returning back to (more) normal. Still, summer itself has been far from normal. Spain for example, as one of the regions most popular holiday destinations, had almost three times as many visitors in August 2021 when compared to 2020. However, it's still only around half of 2019.
Whilst leisure has thus only partially recovered, many retailers and consumer goods companies are reporting outstanding financial results. Supported by stock markets, M&A valuations have skyrocketed and multiples are still historically high. We do expect that the impact of increasing raw materialand fuel prices, as well as (container) transport will become visible in the next few months.
