Chris Winkelman

Energy - Utilities - Resources Industry, Tax, Partner, PwC Netherlands

I advise my clients on their tax strategy, effective tax rate, international trade, pre- and post-deal (re)structuring and on OECD / EU related matters.

My experience includes acquisition structuring, project financing, listed debt, post-merger integration and asset leasing and related questions regarding asset deployment. Increasingly, energy transition-related issues have been added to this, such as modelling the impact of CO2 taxes, possible adjustments to the supply chain / value chain as a result, etc.

“Acting as a tax advisor for clients in the Energy Industry means working in a very dynamic and challenging environment. Especially nowadays, while gas, oil, nuclear and renewable energy sources are subject to major changes, where energy prices and energy security are of ever growing importance. All (trans)actions, reorganisations and innovations resulting from these changes offer plenty of opportunities and challenges from a tax point of view. Being able to work at the intersection of the energy transition and taxation is the possibility for a tax adviser to contribute to the energy transition.”
