Nora El-Mazloum

Tech Trainee

Can you briefly introduce yourself?

I currently live in Amsterdam North. I love to challenge myself. That's why I run my own lifestyle company as a hobby, to keep developing myself and to keep thinking out-of-the-box. Furthermore, I love to travel when I get the chance, discover new places, cultures, and food.

What is your (study) background?

During my bachelor International Business Studies at the HvA I had the opportunity to study for my minor in Shanghai and during my major I was for an exchange in Vietnam. I also followed the master Business Administration with the specialization Digital Business at the UvA. This master's specialises in digital transformation and data science. This way, I learned how to utilise the opportunities and challenges of IT innovations and their impact on organisations and businesses.

Why did you specifically choose this traineeship? And what do you expect from this traineeship?

I chose the tech traineeship because in nine months' time, in three rotations, you will be exposed to different tech fields at a fast pace. With this steep learning curve, you quickly get a good picture of the organisation, you quickly build a relationship with your colleagues and this is a great opportunity for networking.

How did you experience the introduction week?

It was so much fun! The introduction week is not only informative and educational, but also a great opportunity to get to know each other really well. Through the team building activities like sheep herding and fencing, you build a nice bond in an informal way. In combination with the more experienced associates, we get to know both PwC and its culture. A great start to a new chapter!

“You are enrolled in different types of training right from the start, in order to raise your knowledge and skillset to a higher level.”

How do you experience the trainee group?

As a great new family. We have the opportunity to work together even though we are all spread out over diverse teams and projects. It feels so nice to be able to come together and learn from each other. Through this unique opportunity, we can share information and help each other in this new phase, at the start of our careers.

Who are you in your free time?

I like to go out and socialise, find new places to eat with friends or go away for the weekend. I also like to experiment with new dishes and am therefore open to discover new cuisines during my holidays. On top, I’m always up for a game of ping pong or a fun card game for instance.

“Together with your career coach, you discuss ambitions and your development, and your buddy guides you with practical matters within the company.”

What do you think makes PwC stand out as an employer?

In stimulating team building right from the start. That's very nice and also gives you a good idea of how PwC wants to help you and what the values are. Even though it's a big company, you notice right away that PwC wants to train you personally. As a trainee, you're assigned a buddy and a supervisor. Colleagues are very approachable and happy to help.

Is there room for personal growth/development at PwC?

Definitely. You are enrolled in different types of training right from the start, in order to raise your knowledge and skillset to a higher level. Together with your career coach, you discuss your ambitions and your development, and your buddy guides you in practical matters within the company.

What would you say to future colleagues/trainees?

Are you looking for a challenge but also a safe environment to start in? Then PwC is definitely for you. Even if you're not necessarily tech-minded, the traineeship is much more than just technology and includes project-based knowledge as well as business administration.
