‘In my previous role as corporate lawyer, I was broadly educated, with a good foundation in corporate law. At a certain moment, I felt like I needed to go further in my position. I found that in the international business reorganisation team at PwC. In addition, the purpose of PwC, contribution to trust in society and solving important problems, really spoke to me.’
“I almost always work on multiple projects at the same time, which makes my days very varied.”
Meet Rianne. A team player, legal consultant, sports enthusiast, and solver at PwC.
‘I work as a legal consultant in the international transaction practice, with a focus on restructurings within multinationals. This could include (cross-border) mergers and demergers. I also help with establishments and liquidations of companies. Together with colleagues of Tax we look at the structure of the group and how we can design them efficiently. In doing so, we also interact a lot with our international offices for the local tax and legal perspective.’
‘I almost always work on multiple projects at the same time, which makes my days very varied. One day I’m setting up documents and reviewing them. Another day I spend a lot of time on project management where I interact a lot with the client, the solicitor or colleagues abroad.’
“The working environment is very low-key and therefore relaxed.”
‘I have worked on international restructuring, where the coordination of 14 jurisdictions was the responsibility of our team. Very educational because it really gives you a feel for foreign legal procedures. In addition, it was quite a challenge to quickly come up with a solution for unexpected issues. You also get to know a lot of new people. Your network grows with each project.’
‘There is a fixed framework within which you can be promoted. Gradually, together with your coach, you look at which focus suits you best. You play a big role yourself in how you develop yourself within that.’
‘There are good trainings offered, both internally and externally. Internally for instance, you can work on leadership and your soft skills. Do you want more in-depth technical training, you can choose from external options. I myself have took the corporate and business law course. Content wise this course fit well with my daily activities and the issues I deal with.’
‘Within the Corporate & Commercial team I work together with 17 team members, on the theme International Business Reorganisations. I usually work together with a colleague on a case with a partner checking in. At the start of a new project we always look who has room to join in. That makes it that each team is different because you work in different configurations.’
‘In the transaction practice we work on a project basis. That means busy periods alternate with less busy periods. For me the final balance is always right. Because at PwC you get a lot of freedom to plan your own days. In addition you receive a well-being budget annually that you can spend on for instance mindfulness activities or a coach.’
“We work together with interesting clients and are driven to help them with solving socially relevant issues.”
‘The working environment is very low-key and therefore relaxed. You work together towards something and everybody wants the best for each other. Even when you have a little too much on your plate, there are always colleagues willing to help. Furthermore, we undertake a lot of activities together outside of office hours like dinners of taking fitness classes together.’
“At Pwc, the focus is on your personal development. You get a lot of opportunities to develop yourself in all sorts of areas.”
‘Because there are varied issues and there are multiple cases ongoing at the same time, no day is the same. That makes the job a lot of fun. In addition I have been very lucky with my colleagues and we always have a great time when we are at the office together!’
‘PwC is a professional organisation with a great reputation. We work together with interesting clients and are driven to help them with solving socially relevant issues. In addition, the focus is on your personal development. You get a lot of opportunities to develop yourself in all sorts of areas.
