Making progress is what gives me energy. That can be a good conversation with a client, an intensive but constructive discussion with the team, or a project that gradually moves closer to completion. My own development gives me energy too. The feeling that you're making progress often stays with me for days, sometimes even weeks.

I see my work as a puzzle. A client provides a set of financial statements together with supporting documentation, and from there I start looking for the information I need to assess whether everything is correct. I do that through discussions, calculations and the application of rules and regulations. I try to understand how an organisation operates, how its processes are designed and how the numbers are generated. Piece by piece, the puzzle comes together.
More people-focused than I expected
Before joining PwC, I had a very different picture of the profession. I expected the work to revolve mainly around numbers and analysis. What surprised me most was how important the human side of the job is.
I always work as part of a team and felt welcome from day one. There is plenty of room to be yourself and bring your personality into your work. That makes collaboration enjoyable and helps you quickly feel part of the team.

You see that reflected in our projects as well. Every year, we go through different phases together with the client. We start with planning, then deep dive into processes during the interim audit, and finally perform the year-end audit. In every phase, you work closely with both colleagues and clients to build a deeper understanding.
Learning through progress
One thing I really appreciate is that progress isn't only visible in projects, but also in your own development. A project moves forward because, together, you gain new insights. At the same time, you continue learning through your colleagues, your clients and new developments in the profession.
Technology plays a role in that as well. Especially with the rapid developments in AI, we're constantly learning and discovering new ways of working.
