Senior Associate in Financial Services

Focus on opportunities and possibilities

"PwC employs people with many different backgrounds and talents. The inclusive culture and open working atmosphere appealed to me straight away. I have ADHD, as well as being dyslexic. At PwC, that's no problem at all. There's even a diversity network for PwC employees with a disability. This (dis)Ability Network focuses not on limitations but on opportunities and possibilities. I remember being delighted that I could do my graduate internship here. That was a nice, accessible way to get to know the organisation and the audit and accountancy practice better. I discovered that I liked the field of Financial Services within the Assurance business unit best. So it was great to be able to start working in this team as soon as I graduated."

"The world in general, the world of our clients and that of PwC is constantly changing. So it makes sense to keep pace with that and continue to develop."

One big training centre

"PwC could be considered as one big training centre. The world in general, the world of our clients and that of PwC is constantly changing. So it makes sense to keep pace with that and continue to develop." PwC offers ample opportunities in this respect. You get to attend training courses and have access to a worldwide network of professionals you can share knowledge, experience and ideas with. When I put myself forward for the chairmanship of the Works Council I was given every opportunity to go for it. I had some good talks about it with our management team. They had plenty of positive and constructive things to say about this role alongside my work as a senior associate. And it's all turned out really well. So well, in fact, that I've been able to make great strides in both areas. The chairmanship has brought me a great deal and has been a superb learning experience. I'm now due for promotion in my accountancy work to the role of manager, where I act as the pivot between management and work activities."

A pleasant working environment for all

"In the Works Council we are committed to a pleasant working environment for all personnel. We maintain an open dialogue with the board on company policy and employee interests. These talks cover virtually anything. We have made a case for flexible working hours and a personal wellbeing budget for each staff member, for instance, in order to guarantee a good work-life balance. What about my own work-life balance? The winter period is a busy time for audits, and I really have to put my work first. Once the sun starts shining again you'll find me on the hockey field in my spare time. I also love cooking, good food, reading, travelling and of course my dog Saskia."
