Manager Assurance Hakan Koçak is pleased with the combination of IT and accountancy. In addition to his work and activities with his young family, he makes time for sports and teaching future accountants. And every now and then for an hour or so of gaming.
‘Digitisation makes our work a lot of fun’
‘I find new technology very cool. That's why I'm an accountant with a digital focus; I always think about how best to use innovative tools when auditing annual accounts. At PwC, I was closely involved in a pilot in which we worked with a dozen or so teams to find out how to use artificial intelligence in our profession. That makes our work a lot of fun.’
‘In addition to my regular job, I am an external supervisor and work as a tutor at Nyenrode Business University. This is where I train the accountants of the future. I also follow IT training myself. PwC supports me one hundred percent in my sideline activities. Personal growth and development are extremely important in our organisation.’
‘Starting accountants at PwC enter the Associate Academy; you start a learning process with your own class. Every three to four weeks you will change roles and work for different clients, in different teams. In this way, the work remains challenging and dynamic. I think it's great to work in different formations, whether it's with very young colleagues, expats or employees from another part of the Netherlands. You learn to work together with colleagues from different backgrounds. I learned from that to be myself at all times, whoever I work with.’
‘Outside of work, I also have a busy life. I have a family with two young daughters, I like sports and I take part in a lot of social activities. This is only possible if I divide my time carefully. My wife and I go to the fitness club together; while we work out the girls are in the club crèche. Then the four of us dive into the pool. Do I have time left for guilty pleasures? You bet. When everyone's in bed at home, I like to enjoy myself on the couch on PlayStation. A good way to get rid of stress.’
