Ernst Peter Borsje

Senior Director - Workforce

Even after ten years, Ernst Peter Borsje, senior director at the Workforce department, is still enthusiastic about PwC. This is because the work is varied, and he can continue to develop. "You get plenty of training opportunities here, but you also have to take the initiative."

"Our team is mainly concerned with advising clients regarding pensions, insurance and banking. This means that you are focusing on the details and must be fully informed at all times. Furthermore, as a consultant, you have to deal with the client's unmanageable practice. It's different every time, so you're always being challenged; every assignment is new. Sometimes you work alone on an assignment, sometimes with a large team.”

Training opportunities

“The company is expanding, as is the workforce. PwC employees many young people with a lot of drive. Everyone goes for it and wants to develop, which makes PwC the right place to work. You get many training opportunities, but you are also expected to take the initiative. If you want to improve your technical or soft skills, you must say so. Together we examine suitable training courses, both internal and external.”

Strategy and audit support

“It's that continuous development that keeps me inspired. I started ten years ago as a senior manager in the Workforce department, as an advisor to insurers in the actuarial field. I am now a senior director and am also involved in the strategy of our team and recruiting new colleagues, as well as substantive matters such as leading model validations and audit support.”

Leisure

“The image of the consultant as someone who works eighty hours a week is nonsense. Everyone in our team considers a healthy life-work balance to be vital. You are responsible for your own planning, and therefore for your free time. I like to do fun things with my family. I love football, good music, eating out in combination with good wine, I'm a big fan of British comedian Ricky Gervais, and love to travel. All things that take up time. So I ensure that I make that time."
