Can you tell us about yourself?

I am Christijn Groeneveld and I have been working at PwC in the marketing department for almost four years. Within the editorial team, I am responsible for the video and photo content. I also have a background as an athlete: I was a ice skater for more than ten years.

Meet Christijn. An athlete, content creator, creative artist, and solver.

What does The New Equation mean to you personally, i.e. how do you contribute to sustainable progress?

For me personally, The New Equation means looking at content creation in an innovative way. In practice, I try to look at a concept from different perspectives in order to achieve a better end product.

How did you end up at PwC and what exactly do you do?

I was approached to come and work for PwC as a photographer. I have now been working for almost four years at PwC in the marketing department, where I feel completely at home within the editorial team. I am the permanent in-house videographer and photographer, which means that I am engaged in various projects to create video and photo content, especially for editorial purposes. This makes my work very diverse: one day I am shooting photos for interviews with members of the Board of Management and the next day I am asked to make a campaign video for a project devoted to biodiversity. I therefore get to know the ins and outs of all the disciplines within PwC and meet colleagues from various teams and different layers.

What is your educational background?

I obtained my senior secondary diploma in retailing and also dedicated myself to my elite sports career. After my skating career ended, I continued to develop in my current field by attending courses.

What does your typical working day look like?

Every day is different. Within marketing, we receive very diverse requests from different departments at PwC. Our editorial team then looks at how we can achieve a great concept. The request is then converted into a creative idea. We subsequently filter the creative ideas so that only the best ones remain and we establish an outline so that all the details are right. From there, I perform my role as a photographer and videographer and try to get the story across the best I can with images.

What do you like about your work and what makes it challenging?

The marketing department at PwC consists of various sub-teams. These teams often work together. I especially like this collaboration with many different colleagues. In addition, my work means I meet many colleagues from other departments within our company and I regularly visit clients when carrying out projects. I learn something from everyone and learn new things to include in subsequent projects.

Tell us something about your team/collaboration/colleagues/the open culture at PwC?

Within Marketing, there is a very informal atmosphere in the workplace and outside working hours I regularly meet up with colleagues for a bite to eat or a drink.

What is still on your bucket list?

If I had to choose one thing, I would like to achieve another sporting highlight.

Can you name a project that you are proud of?

I recently worked on an internal communication project with the theme of Black Lives Matter. I feel that this project has had a great impact on the company culture and I am therefore proud that I was able to contribute to it.

What can you say about the flexibility/work-life balance at PwC?

PwC is very flexible when it comes to arranging your working hours. You are given a lot of freedom and you hold the reins. If you discuss your wishes and needs with your manager, there are many possibilities.

"Despite being a large organisation, it feels very intimate: everyone counts and you are not just a number."
