Meet Anish. Mood maker, sports enthusiast, consultant and solver at PwC

How did you arrive at PwC?

I used to work at the litigation practice of a law firm. In terms of content, it offered me little in the form of challenge or diversity. PwC seemed like a better choice. It’s not a law firm, but you are still giving legal advice to clients in a multidisciplinary environment.

What exactly do you do?

Within PwC Legal, I advise clients about sustainability (Environment, Social and Governance -ESG), with a focus on governance-related subjects like the influence of sustainability on the (liability of) directors and supervisors.

What did you notice when you first joined PwC?

How nice and informal colleagues were. I think I expected a more formal atmosphere.

What does your workday look like?

That’s a difficult question as no workday is the same. Most often you can find me in meetings with clients or the team or in some type of training. At other times I’m putting together a PowerPoint presentation or playing a game of pool or table football with colleagues for a change of pace.

Why did you choose PwC?

I was particularly drawn by the international dynamic and the size of organisation. One of my ambitions is to work abroad at some point and at PwC that is absolutely an option!

What makes the job fun?

Mostly the people you work with, the challenges and possibilities and the clients you work for.

What can you tell us about your team?

I very much enjoy working with my team. The atmosphere is very relaxed and informal. We regularly do something fun with the team, like going to parties together. I also often collaborate with people from for example Assurance, Tax or People. It’s great that at PwC we approach issues in a multidisciplinary way.

What is on your bucket list?

Very cliché, but I’d love to go on a trip around the world!

What do you think about the work-life balance at PwC?

The work-life balance within PwC is good in my opinion. We work hard, but there is also room to recover.

What characterizes the working atmosphere at PwC?

Comfortable and especially very informal. That makes it easy to connect with colleagues and to regularly do things together like drinks or sports events.

How does PwC help you in your career?

At PwC, you learn a lot. Not just in job-related skills, but there is also a big focus on the soft skills necessary to do your job. When necessary, guidance is available and at the same time you are occasionally thrown in the deep end to solve something. It helps you develop further as a professional and as a person.

What project are you most proud of?

We have advised a listed company on ESG governance within the organisation. By making governance more sustainable, you ensure that the organization focuses more on sustainability and acts more sustainably.

What do you want to say to future colleagues (why would you recommend working at PwC Legal)?

If you are looking for an informal team with a variety of challenging activities, PwC Legal is the place for you! My tip is to start practicing your skills in table football, because we’re real fanatics about it here!
