"I feel very comfortable in this changing environment. It is a great opportunity to learn, to grow and to evolve for my company, my team and myself. I am sure that my company will do its best to keep us safe when returning to work.

Personally, I am finding it easy to undergo with the current change. I have been able to quickly find my balance between working from home and my personal life. I am looking forward to returning back to the workplace and enjoying the 'new normal' situation."

"This changing period has been an opportunity for me to think about doing my day to day work differently (e.g. using digital tools and developing new digital skills) and defining a new work life balance. However, I miss my colleagues a lot and working from home after so many weeks becomes more and more difficult. I am looking forward to coming back to the office and have a proper place to work where I can easily and efficiently communicate with my colleagues."

New normal

'New normal', 'old normal', well I am confused with all the changes and honestly, I think that working from home has a lot of advantages. Indeed, I can easily focus on tasks I have to do, I am not disturbed by my colleagues anymore, I can arrange my working time as I want so my productivity is higher than before. And I know that my company will not invest in creating a secure environment if I return to work. So I prefer to work remotely using the digital tools that we have in place to perform our work. I will keep an eye on how the 'new normal situation is going and maybe, after some months, I will come back to the office."

"This crisis is a real nightmare. I would love to go back to the situation before where I had my daily routine and was able to seperate my professional and personal life, Now everything is disrupted. I have real difficulties with working from home, I feel alone and lost contacts with my colleagues. I do not know how to use all these new digital tools in my day-to-day work and my wellbeing is not balanced anymore. My company is not helping us in this changing environment. They are focusing on financial results and productivity and do not even think about taking care of employees and creating a safe and secure environment when returning to normal."

of people would like to split time between home and work office. Most of them see a lot of benefits in flexible working.

However, this new hybrid model requires two main elements:

  • A strong, fluid and easy communication between team members, and with the Management

  • A solid and sustainable base of trust between managers and employees, especially with new joiners in the organisation that will require additional attention

It is good to keep in mind that undergoing change for individuals or groups of people is a long journey with different stages related to reactions, behaviors and traits. Follow our changemaker to know more about the curve:

  • Shock and denial – a total non-acceptance of the change, looking for evidence that this is not true
  • Anger – frustration that this is happening and looking for someone or something to blame. Angry at times

  • Bargaining – looking for some way of avoiding the inevitable, trying to find anything to remedy the situation

  • Depression – a feeling that nothing seems to work, responding with apathy and sadness. Low mood and lack of energy

  • Experiment -  Initial engagement with a new situation

  • Decision and acceptance – Feeling more positive about the situation, reality of the situation is accepted
