Why does PwC do this?

At PwC we want to help build trust in society and solve important problems. In view of our purpose, we see increasing the impact of social enterprises as an important topic.

This is why we offer our knowledge and expertise in various ways.

We set up the following initiatives:

  • In 2014, we launched Social Enterprise NL, in order to increase support to social entrepreneurs.
  • We are founding partner of the Social Enterprise NL and Ashoka platforms.
  • We support different social enterprises with pro bono consulting.
  • In cooperation with Nyenrode University we conduct research  on the financing, legal status and success factors of social enterprises.

We organize master classes on social entrepreneurship, for instance about measuring the impact of your social enterprise.

Ad van Gils, Executive Board member of PwC Netherlands and chairman of the jury:

We are committed to social enterprises because we are convinced that they are the future, and because they still could use a helping hand in their development. The winners of the challenge have in common that they have developed a clever concept that will substantially contribute to solving important problems. They therefore appeal directly to our purpose. We can learn from them and look forward to working together with them. "

Our initiatives on the social enterprise factor are part of our Corporate Responsibility (CR) policy. CR means for us that we would like to make our own social impact and contribute to the solution of social issues. This is why CR is an integral part of our strategy. Our initiatives are focused on four areas: environmental stewardship, community engagement, responsible business and diversity & inclusion.
