Start off your career in accountancy at PwC and join our two-year training programme, The Associate Academy – the ultimate accountancy traineeship. You can choose from among five different Associate Academy locations: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Eindhoven or Zwolle.
If you want to:
Then The Associate Academy is right for you!
The Associate Academy is a two-year training programme in which you work four days a week and attend lectures on Friday for your pre-Master's, Master's or post-Master's qualification. The focus is on your professional and personal growth. You'll have the opportunity to gain experience in as many different market sectors as possible, for example by working for start-ups, international companies, innovative firms and major banks and insurers, as well as in other sectors.
You'll work with your team on assignments for various clients large and small. You'll get to know business processes, audit annual accounts, review internal control processes and carry out year-end audits. But that's not all: because corporate sustainability plays an increasingly important role in the field of accountancy, you will also be involved in assessing long-term environmental and social risks, for example. In other words, as a PwC accountant you'll work on much more than simply annual accounts.
You’ll interview clients and transform problems into company-specific solutions. You’ll learn to work with digital systems and new technologies such as robots, and use serious gaming to prepare for the real world of accountancy. Our interactive approach will help you bridge the gap between theory and practice.
As an associate, you will learn to take charge of your own learning process. We will assign you a coach to guide you and teach you how to get the best out of yourself. The focus at The Associate Academy is on developing your soft skills, such as personal leadership and communication. You'll learn how to present yourself to customers and how to work with different leadership styles. You’ll work closely with your fellow associates, with peer feedback and coaching helping you learn how to adapt to changes in the field of accountancy. You’ll also have access to all kinds of training courses that will deepen and broaden your knowledge.
You will build a close-knit network within The Associate Academy. You'll share what you've experienced with your fellow associates during review sessions and have good times together, including social gatherings, a ski trip, a weekend sailing, and more.
Audit & Capital Markets and Advisory
One of the unique features of The Associate Academy is that you have the option of starting your career as an associate with a traineeship that combines Audit and Capital Markets and Advisory Accounting Services (CMAAS). You’ll alternate CMAAS and audit projects. At CMAAS, you’ll advise international and listed companies on valuations, financial instruments, treasury, accounting and capital market transactions.
Audit & Sustainability
Another possibility is to start off your career as an associate in a combined Audit and Sustainability traineeship. This is especially appealing if you're interested in sustainability information and would like to develop a broad professional skillset in the early years of your career. On the one hand, you will acquire a solid grounding in the accountancy work that forms the basis of both elements of the traineeship; on the other hand, you will also gain an understanding of both financial and sustainability issues. This will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in and practise working with various forms of assurance.
Digital Assurance Traineeship
Are you more interested in digital assurance and would you like to work on assignments that involve big data, cybersecurity, data privacy, artificial intelligence, and innovative IT management? Then apply for our Digital Assurance Traineeship.
The five steps to become a member of The Associate Academy:
Step 1. Online Application
Do you possess a HBO Bachelor or WO Master in Accountancy and are you interested to start as an Associate at PwC in September 2019? Select a vacancy and send in your application including a letter of motivation and your resume. We will contact you and let you know whether you are ready for the next step in the application process.
Step 2. Online assessment
The online assessment consist of three parts: a capacity test, a personality questionnaire and a personal motivation questionnaire. This will give us a clear overview of your behaviour in different situations and your verbal and quantative skills. These are all of great importance in the accountancy profession. When the result of your online assessment is ready, we will contact you and let you know if you are invited to the first personal interview.
Step 3. Personal interview
During a first meeting - often face-to-face, but sometimes through telephone – we want to hear what your motivation is to work as an Associate at PwC. We do not only talk about you as a person, but also discuss your career opportunities at PwC. Of course we are open to any questions you may have, so have them ready. After this meeting we will decide whether to invite you for an in-depth interview.
Step 4. In-depth interview
During the in-depth interview with a recruiter and a partner of the business unit you are applying for we will discuss your skills and mutual expectations. After this interview we will decide if we will offer you a contract.
Step 5. The Offer
After you have closely looked at your offer and decided to accept it, we will take care of all the formalities and administration and will welcome you as a PwC Associate at the start date of the next Associate Academy in September 2020.
