What exactly does the Digital Assurance Traineeship involve?

The Digital Assurance Traineeship is part of our Assurance practice and will start on the 7th of September 2020. The traineeship offers you the opportunity to get to know our internal challenges and those of our clients from different perspectives.

The first year of the traineeship is the so-called orientation phase. In this first year you will be introduced to three of our core services: IT Audit, Assurance and Innovation. In this way you will build a unique network within three different knowledge areas and you will have sufficient options to grow in your specific interest. In this traineeship, we bring together two groups, Assurance and Tech profiles. In this way, we ensure that everyone is empowered. We innovate together.
In your first year as a Tech profile, you will get to know the world of Audit and Accountancy and as a Finance profile, you will get to know the world of Technology.

In the second year, you select your specialization: Assurance, Audit or Innovation. Where you got to know our services in the first year, you now have the choice to choose where you want to develop yourself. This focus forms the basis of your own specialism and career. It is also possible to make a combination of these three specialisms.

After choosing your specialism, your Digital Assurance career really starts with innovation not as a project, but as part of your work.
The projects during this traineeship match your interests and skills. All specialisms work together on innovation on Digital Day. Here we look together at what we can improve and innovate, giving you the opportunity to take on your own projects.

You will follow an extensive two-year training programme in which you acquire both technical (e.g. Python, SQL, CISSP, etc.) and personal skills. In addition, there are monthly workshops focusing on coaching, personal development and intervision, and you will attend masterclasses on relevant digital themes. We focus on topics such as cyber security, data privacy, data analytics, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, innovative IT audits and blockchain. It is possible to gain more in-depth experience in one of these areas.

You will also have the opportunity to follow a master's or post master's programme, such as Data Science or Digital Auditing.

What will you be doing?

In this traineeship, you will learn how to innovate the business processes, IT Audit, information systems and risk management of your clients. You will also get to know the aspects of the accountancy profession and you will actively participate in the audit of the annual accounts by assessing business processes and testing the internal control and systems of clients. You will be capable of performing a variety of jobs and will work with different teams within PwC. You will make an important contribution to challenging projects and assignments at various clients, which will ensure that you train yourself in a wide range of skills.

Your clients will vary from local players to large multinationals in different market sectors. You will interview your clients, collect information, assess the reliability of internal automated and non-automated processes and advise on risk management. You will also implement solutions at clients to control digital processes even more effectively. You will work regularly with the client and learn from experienced PwC staff with whom you work. In short: a challenging and stimulating environment!
