PwCC is responsible for the verification of approximately 25% of the Dutch CO2 and NOx emissions of stationary installations. PwCC is also market leader in the verification of annual emissions reports in the aviation industry. It also verifies CO2 footprint reports in relation to the SKAO CO2 performance ladder.
Since 2005 companies in the Netherlands have been subject to two emissions trading systems: the European Emissions Trading System (‘EU ETS’) and the national system for NOx emissions trading. The Dutch Emission Authority (´NEa’) is the competent body for monitoring these systems. Under both systems, participants are required to monitor their emissions in accordance with a validated monitoring plan and to submit an annual emissions report to the NEa which must be verified by an accredited, independent verifier.
With effect from the year 2010, the aviation industry has been included in the European CO2 emissions trading system. All aircraft operators which fly to, from and within the EU have been included in the system. The country to which the aircraft operator flies most often in terms of the system will in principal be designated as the country monitoring compliance with laws and regulations. Due to the international character of the aviation industry , the verification has also become a cross-border activity. EU Member States are obliged to accept accredited verifiers of other EU countries for aircraft operators that are required to report to that country.
In 2005, PricewaterhouseCoopers Certification B.V. (PwCC) was the first party accredited in the Netherlands by the Dutch Accreditation Council (‘RvA’) for carrying out verifications under both the CO2 and NOx emissions trading systems. We have implemented robust internal quality procedures which ensure the expert knowledge and independence of our employees. PwCC safeguards the quality of the verification work by combining technical and industry-specific knowledge with in-depth knowledge of the laws and regulations and the competence to also apply a sound data-audit methodology.
Our verifiers have extensive experience in verifying both CO2 and NOx emissions reports for companies in various industries.
